Hey All,
Another quick update!
We’re currently on track for an 8/31 release of V5.0 for GLANCE SCROLL and V3.0 for GLANCE.
We’re still somewhat at the mercy of Apple and Android approval timelines before the updates can go live in the App Store and Google Play, but we’re pushing to have our final builds submitted by end of business today, the firmware release may slip into Sept 1st, but we are good to go from a release perpsective!
A few updates from this past week:
-
Improved Developer Documentation: We made major improvements to the documentation on glance-led.dev, including new design guidelines and updates to the GLANCE Studio MCP to help produce better, more consistent app designs.
-
Community & Visual App Improvements: We spent a ton of time reviewing and fixing community apps submitted by developers. One challenge is that developers currently can’t easily preview exactly how their apps will look on a physical GLANCE device before approval. We’re looking into improving this experience. In the short term, we’re developed a scroll engine simulator so developers can preview how their apps will look and scroll before they ever reach the hardware. This is live in the latest release of the GDN https://github.com/glance-led-dev/glance-dev-network
-
GLANCE SETUP App Visual Improvements: We fixed a number of visual bugs throughout the app. We know parts of the app still look and feel a little dated, and we’re actively working toward a more modern visual experience. You’ll start seeing incremental design improvements before we eventually move into a much larger UI overhaul.
-
Soccer Standings Fixes: We updated EPL and La Liga standings to account for newly promoted teams, updated team data, and new logos.
-
College Football Fixes: We fixed issues affecting Top 25 and college football games that were preventing some games from appearing correctly. Things should be ready to go for the start of Week 0.
-
Faster Sports Updates: We’ve increased the frequency and speed of sports data updates across the platform.
-
Win Animations: GLANCE V2 and GLANCE SCROLL will both receive new win animations with V5.0. I personally love these. After your team wins, the animation will remain active for roughly 15 minutes, but you’ll only see it once per full scroll/belt cycle so it doesn’t become repetitive.
V6.0 for GLANCE SCROLL has officially entered beta testing.
We’ve been teasing this update for months, and it’s one of the most highly requested features we’ve ever received.
With V6.0, you’ll be able to connect multiple PREMIER, PRO, and STUDIO tickers together through the GLANCE SETUP app and run them as one giant continuous ticker.
Multi-SCROLL mode is completely optional and can be enabled whenever you want to connect multiple PREMIER, PRO, or STUDIO tickers together as one continuous display.
This feature was originally driven by requests from our commercial customers and required a significant amount of engineering to make work reliably. We’re incredibly excited to bring the same capability to every GLANCE SCROLL user.
More details soon as we move through beta testing.
Thats it for now! We are looking forward to getting V5.0 firmware for scroll in your hands soon and then releasing V6.0!
